FoAP project's work
The main and straightforward aim of the FoAP project is to run a Database Management System of archaeological sites, monuments and historical areas, based on a relational database and a GIS (Geographical Information System) map platform.
This powerful and comprehensive national recording system provides support for research and education institutions, governmental organizations, local authorities, development and constructions companies, touristic agencies, etc., working in the country.

Our system contains today, over a terabyte of data information related to sites, monuments and historical areas.
The stored data is continuously enriched with information acquired from research in published and unpublished data sources, as well as from the regular field surveys undertaken by the project team.
An important commitment of the FoAP projects is the ongoing training program for students and young specialist of archaeology and heritage, introducing and transferring knowledge’s on the use of new computer technologies and methodologies applied world widely in the research and management process of the heritage data.
We are opened to offer consultations to governmental institutions responsible for heritage management and protections, and also to undertake commercial services for national and international institutions involved in planning and infrastructure development projects in Albania.
Also, FoAP maintains and is responsable for the FASTI online project for Albania, a database of the archaeological excavation research undertaken in the Mediterranean world since 2000.
