FoAP Historic Environment Recording System
FoAP has created, implemented and manages today the Albania’s first Historical Environmental Recording system. The system is based on a powerful database, GIS (Geographical Information System) interactive map, and a web-GIS interface for storing, evaluating and analyzing the countries’ heritage data as well as for providing online public access to the these data.
 The database amasses currently over 4000 digitized records in the form of text, sketches, photographs, aerial photos, historical maps, etc., accumulated from archival and published research work and surveys. The stored data collection deals with a wide range of individual monuments of social, religious, military, maritime, funerary types, sites and areas, such as cities, villages, monastery complexes, battlefields, industrial areas, graveyards, etc., dating from prehistory until the end of the communist period. In the FoAP electronic archive, are also stored historical and contemporary data relating to the geo-morphological and climatic changes of the landscape territories.
In the electronic archive are stored over 500 CAD plans, 3-D reconstruction and photorealistic images, for sites and monuments, digitized these two later years by the FoAP project. This initiative enables the presentation of the new drawn CAD plan on a real scale map, the correction of the inaccuracies in the pre-existing old plan, addition of new elements and the thematic layering of structural elements by phase, type, condition, etc.
