Training and education program

Training program is a very important objective of FoAP project, aiming at the dissemination of new concepts, practices and methodologies used in the management, evaluation and protection of heritage data.
Since its establishment, the project has undertaken a number of trainings activities with students and young specialist, providing knowledge’s on heritage data collection and elaboration, as well as the computer technologies used in the field.
   

Seminars were organized initially by FoAP with students at the Universities of “Aleksandёr Xhuvani”, Elbasan and “Eqrem Çabej”, Gjirokastёr, introducing them to the new database system implemented by the project and its role on the management, protection and evaluation of the countries archaeological and cultural heritage data.
A number of students have been involved in the training programs organized in our offices, and then employed as part time in the project, by contributing in the data collection, verification and entry in the project’s DBMS. Many have been the students and young specialists who have participated and assisted us in our working process, among them Ulsi Tota, Era Xhaferaj, Alba Kreka, Eva Thomagjini, Klajdi Mato, Yljana Ylli, Armels Kolleshi, etc.
During these years, are organized trainings programs for the specialists of the National Archaeological Parks of Butrint and Bylis, focused mainly on the utilization of the database system and the applied standards in the process of field and archive collection of the archaeological data. In addition, computers and a database structure were installed in the national park offices for their future local use.
   

The project also provides training during its field surveys activities, particularly to collaborative team members from regional institutions or to the students who participate in the project, by introducing them to new field methodologies and surveys techniques and instrumentation such as the use of GPS and Total Station (TST), and related GIS, CAD and database applications.
